As you know, I do not solicit gifts from brands. Several years ago, I removed my name and address from the lists PR companies use to send out freebies because I didn’t want their promotion packages cluttering up my house. But recently, an affiliate company I work with, shipped me some products from The Outset, and when I ran out of my own night cream, I decided to try theirs instead of buying new.
I’m so glad I did.
As you know, I have combination/dry, sensitive, acne prone skin. It’s such a joy. Most moisturizers cause breakouts or bring the shine in a big way. So I keep a day cream on hand, but use it only when I think my skin needs a bit of moisture. Otherwise, I like to let my skin do its own thing with a gentle cleanser and a good Vitamin-C serum.
The Outset’s Restorative Niacinamide Night Cream contains niacinamide, bakuchiol, bilberry, sunflower oil and evening primrose oil. The product promises to hydrate, smooth wrinkles, brighten, and restore skin’s natural barrier.
I started using this night cream earlier last month. Immediately, I noticed how rich the cream is and that it doesn’t feel greasy on the skin. Another thing I noticed is that it doesn’t have a strong smell, which so many lotions and potions do these days.
The first few nights, I was happy with the cream. It hydrated well, and didn’t seem to clog my pores. After a couple of weeks, I noticed that I was almost never using my daytime moisturizer. I could gently cleanse my face in the morning and didn’t really need another moisturizer afterwards. So I started applying just a dot of moisturizer to my eye area, and nothing else. I’ve even started applying a bit to my hands before I go to bed to help with the wrist wrinkles that appeared after two-decades of nonstop typing.
Also, this is usually the time of year when my skin rebels against the change in seasons. I always go through a bout of dry skin followed by a large breakout. This year, because of the Prequel Gleanser and this night cream, I haven’t had a single issue.
Part of the reason that I don’t solicit gifted product, is that it’s tougher to evaluate a purchase honestly when you don’t buy it. Almost eight-weeks after I was gifted this product, I bought another jar and I still love it. I also bought their Botanical Rescue Balm to use on my cuticles, because my nail beds could use the help.
At $54, the product isn’t a drugstore find, but it is a wonderful alternative to the $150 or $200 creams influencers have sold me on. The night cream does the same job as those pricey moisturizers for a cost that doesn’t require the use of a fainting couch. I’ve recommended The Outset to several friends, and I plan to keep using it. So often these celebrity-attached skincare lines aren’t as good as advertised, but this one is. Highly recommend.
