Happy Hour: Watermelon Water

Jul 16, 2021

A few weeks ago, I bought a can of Mela Watermelon Water after a workout.  The can touted the benefits of drinking watermelon water, which is packed with electrolytes and antioxidants.  It tasted great, and was very refreshing.

But the price?  Woof. So I decided to make my own.

The Internet tells me that Agua de Sandia (watermelon water) is commonly served in Mexico.  Isabel Eats’ recipe for this ‘agua fresca’ couldn’t be simpler as it’s made from three ingredients — water, watermelon, and sugar.

It typically uses a blender, but if you don’t have one, you can place the cubes of watermelon in cheese cloth and just squeeze the heck out of them.

Add a bit lime to give it extra flavor, and you have a great drink for barbecues, gatherings, or after your workout.  You can also add a spirit like vodka or tequila if you’re feeling the need for some Happy Hour relief after a long week.

As for what to wear, Athleta’s semi-annual sale is on and there are a lot of great buys for your workout and leisure attire needs.

My favorite Skyline pants are just $29, which is an absolute steal.  My favorite long-sleeve and short-sleeve workout tops are both on sale.  And I snapped up this pretty tote bag too.

Athleta is an inclusive brand so they stock both misses and plus-sizes.  I would sort the sale by size as things are sporadically sold out.  But the deals, the deals are pretty awesome.

I’ve been waiting for a good sale to buy the Skyline pants! Thanks for the heads up. I’m especially after the disappointing Nordstrom sale.

Those skyline pants are incredible! I bought a pair in black size 12 for full price $89 when you first talked about them and they were totally worth it! I’ve been steadily losing weight by so I just bought the 8 and 10 for $29 each. Thank you, you are my favorite blog.

I had lots of about-to-go-bad baby sugar watermelon (thanks Costco) this weekend so your agua de sandia recipe could not have come at a better time. Thanks!
