Apologies for the crickets around here. Our dog, Sophie, had to have surgery last week to remove an infection in her jaw. So, with Kyle out of town, I have been on nurse duty, cleaning wounds and the like. But Sophie’s bouncing back, so let’s talk about this week’s Fantastic Find.
As previously discussed, until I lose some of this post-law school weight, I am all wrap dresses, all the time. Summer is coming to a close, so I’m slowing down any summer purchases. But when this $98 Iris Wrap Dress popped up on Ann Taylor, I had to have it.
In addition to wearing wrap dresses to conceal some weight gain, I’m also wearing a LOT of color this summer. Reds, yellows, greens, bold prints — not my usual Olivia Pope-like feast of pale neutrals. Why?
Because I think when you’re wearing a bright color, you stand out in the best possible way. You look good, and you feel good. It’s like a sartorial anti-depressant. When I wear my bright yellow AT wrap dress, I feel like my mood improves. And I got so many stops in D.C. from people asking where I got the dress, which is always nice.
This bold, orange dress from AT has a similar effect. On the weekend, I wear it with gold flat sandals. For work, you could add a white blazer and belt with a pair of nude-to-you pumps.
This is a great dress because it’s impactful, but easy. You can just throw it on when you need something that you know looks great and fits great. It also has a femininity to it that’s really fun. I wanted it so bad that I didn’t wait for a sale, but since it’s AT, I’m sure a sale is coming soon.

that’s why I wear all the colors, all the time 🙂
It feels much more special and confident in a way that doesn’t rely so much on ‘hiding’ things.
Or a really ‘out-there’ necklace or pair of sunglasses.
Love this dress!
I’m really loving all of your AT picks as of late!
I love the phrase “nude-to-you” – thanks!
And the AT dress is now 40% off! Woo!
how do you get the flutter sleeves not to bunch under a blazer?
These aren’t a real voluminous flutter. But with a heavier flutter, I recommend clipping them flat with a bobby pin.
