I do have to say though, when it comes to groups like Neo Nazis, Westboro church, etc. I really cant sit and listen to talk to people like that when they are literally saying as a POC I am subhuman or not worthy of certain rights/should be killed or damned to hell etc.
I always try to understand a variety of perspective but I believe that this goes beyond politics and opinions. Good for the black,jewish man who interviewed them ‘patiently’ but I think its important to understand people’s unwillingness to confront these groups in a similar manner is often times a matter of preserving their own safety and mental health….
I think it’s much more powerful to hear the message of hate from the believers than it is to hear it through the media. He interviews them to try to understand them, but also to show people that these groups exist and they’re just as dangerous and intolerant as you can imagine. But it is amazing to watch someone who encompasses everything these people hate interact with these groups on their terms. It’s much more revealing that any other coverage that I’ve seen on groups like Azof and the white power movement.
I chuckled at the article about being late. In Hawaii, being late is a lifestyle. I have yet to start a meeting on time. I once overheard someone exclaim “oh wow, you’re early!” (they were 5 min late, lol).
Yep, we have a thing called Miami time. On birthday invitations, you would always set the start time as 2 hours earlier than when you actually expected your party to start. Lateness is a significant peeve of mine. I’d love to start my meetings on time – alas, the VIPs who are frequently in those meetings are commonly 1-2 minutes late due to their previous meeting running right up to the end.
Granted, it’s poor time management on their part – they should try to bow out early or something – but it’s faux pas in my office to start without giving them three minutes to arrive. Sigh.
Woah, 1-2 minutes? That’s a little extreme. I mean, that could just come down to someone’s watch being a little slow or having to wait a really long time for an elevator.
I agree with you that in other places, it could be those things – and that if there’s a shred of doubt, then people should be given the benefit of the doubt. In my case, though, it isn’t.
I’ve been at my single-floor (no elevators) org for 7 years – it’s definitely an office-culture issue, not a watch issue. When the culprits of this bad behavior always have a) their laptops with their mail and calendar open, plus b) their phone that their calendar is synchronized with, and sometimes c) smart watches that do notifications, they definitely know. They just don’t care.
It isn’t everyone by any means, but the same few people are always the people who are holding things up.
I recently bought a Homeyee dress from Amazon on a whim, expecting to potentially be disappointed based on the CRAZY low price tag and my unfamiliarity with the brand. I was really pleased! The fit was excellent, the fabric quality was decent, and I could not have been happier with this random find. I’m thinking of trying another Homeyee dress. If anyone orders, pay attention to the measurement guide. I followed it exactly and got the right fit.
A lot of news anchors and meteorologists wear the brand, so I see it on TV a lot. I’m glad the quality is good.
Rachel – I ordered three of their dresses last night thanks to your comment and some of the crazy-helpful reviews on Amazon that included photos. I’ll report back!
They arrived this morning. I also followed their measurement guide (NOT Amazon’s!) which is in the product photos. I found they fit true to that chart. Construction is solid, seams are serged well, and zippers don’t feel flimsy.
One of the dresses I received is not quite what I ordered (I ordered this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CE7AI6C/) – I suspect they mixed up styles. The difference manifests in the waist. Instead of the pictured waist and asymmetrical peplum, I have a similar peplum on both sides. It fits, but I need to assess how I feel about what it does for my hips before I decide if I like and will keep it. The other two styles are exactly as pictured.
