One. Cleaning your makeup brushes is good for your skin, your makeup and your brushes. This kit provides everything you need to do it the right way. For a cheaper alternative, I would recommend just buying the brush sleeves. They let your brushes dry while maintaining their shape.
Want something sturdier? I own this Sigma Dry n’ Shape. Your brushes dry very quickly after washing, and you can use it as a case.
Two. I purchased this lip color in Cherry Nectar after seeing it on a friend. It gives you a glossy, smooth application without that sticky feeling. The intensity of the color is also really nice.
Three. In an effort to cut down on expenses, I traded out my Bliss Ingrown Hair Eliminating Pads for this product from Completely Bare. They work as well as the Bliss pads, and aren’t as drying as Stridex or other bargain brands.
Four. A friend mentioned the Laneige product line to me while we were at an event last Saturday. The South Korean brand focuses on hydrating the skin with products that are lighter than most of the creams peddled stateside. I tried their sleeping water mask for the first time this weekend and was impressed with the results.
It’s the kind of product that allows you to fake a good night’s sleep. It left my skin feeling smooth and well-hydrated. My one complaint is the scent. It’s a nice fragrance, meant to relax you as your sleeping, but I prefer my products fragrance free. You can find the whole line of Laneige products at Target. I’ve heard the sunscreen is also quite good.
Five. During this transition season, I like to wear berry hues on my fingertips. This Plumberry from Essie is a great shade–not too dark, not too punchy. I also recommend Essie Sure Shot and OPI That’s Berry Daring.
Six. Ever tried to grow your eyebrows back in? What a chore. It’s a task that requires patience and a good pair of eyebrow scissors.
The easiest way to do it is to walk away from the tweezers and apply vitamin-E to the area. It takes a few weeks, but over time they’ll start growing back. To keep them in check in the interim, you need to trim your brows. Trimming will give them shape and definition without plucking. For a tutorial, click here.
You can actually buy brush sleeves? I really wish I had known that. Probably not too late to save my deeply beloved Hourglass foundation brush, I hope.
I wish I had the problem of not enough eyebrow hair. On the plus side, I’ll always be ready when full eyebrows are in.
Aren’t they already in? You can definitely pull off strong eyebrows in a way you couldn’t years ago.
Thanks to Hilary Rhoda, these are totally in.
The Sephora lip ink’s are amazing. I have the Tangerine and the Strawberry and both last a long time and are not super glossy (personal preference). I find the glossy ones are hard to apply like the Maybelline SuperStay 10 Hour lip stain. I want to try the Coral one but its sold out at the two Sephora locations I went to.
