I noticed that colored leather jackets were featured in many of the spring fashion magazines that passed through my hands. A leather jacket, whether bright or neutral, is an investment piece. Few people can just wander into a store and purchase one without some planning or saving. So the prices of these jackets are not reflective of their titles…in other words, I don’t expect a Hill Staffer to drop nine bills on a leather jacket.

Burberry Brit Leather Biker Jacket ($1,795)
Hill Staffer
Alice + Olivia Biker Jacket ($895)
This jacket also comes in orange and is more in the Staffer price range.

Sam Edelman Faux Leather Jacket ($168)
I also like this blush-colored one from Mango.
And if you just want a basic, neutral jacket for any season, I’m crushing hard (and saving my pennies) for this Tahari jacket.
I invested in a basic black leather jacket about five years ago and love it. Though it can be a bit special to take care of, I think it’s a fun piece to pull out every now and again. I’m liking these colored leather jackets too.
I’ve seen a couple of spring lines with leather skirts? What is that about? It’s giving me some flashbacks to the pleather pants of my high school days…I don’t think I’ll be jumping on that band wagon, but if people can show me a cute way to style it, I might consider.
See, e.g., Jason Wu: https://www.fashionising.com/runway/b–jason-wu-ss-13-29181.html
Any ideas for similar jackets that aren’t leather? I’m always looking for cute spring jackets that I can wear to go out in these kinds of cuts, but a lot of light fabric jackets in these cuts are too sweater-like.
If you’re looking for leather jackets, keep at eye out at Nordstrom Rack. I scored a Michael Kors leather jacket a summer or two ago at the Pentagon location for about $160. Awesome.
