Two Ways: The Olive Striped Shirt

I’d write a quippy intro, but it’s 5:00AM and I’m sitting in an airport lounge, so let’s just get on with it, shall we?

Outfit One // If you’re back in the world of business suits, this tonal look is a modern way to wear a traditional suit.  Everything is olive (I promise the pants and blazer match in real life), and it feels very chic and easy.  Plus, the suit is reasonably priced.

This Mango blazer and pant is a really easy, affordable suit that packs well.  I’ve taken it on two work trips and simply hanging it removes 90% of all wrinkles.  I like that the sleeves on the blazer are already pushed up, so it gives it a really relaxed vibe, and the stripe looks so good peeking out of the sleeve.

Sold out in your size?  Dillard’s has a similar suit in a classic cut.  MM LaFleur and Argent both carry olive, if you want a higher quality suit.  Just want a cool jacket?  This incredible Veronica Beard is on sale.

Finish it off with an olive heel (try to match the colors as closely as you can) or a tortoise one, add a great, inexpensive bag you can knock around at work, and a fun earring, and you’re done.  For styling, hair up is going to be a little severe, so down with an easy, non-sticky lip gloss to brighten the look.

Outfit Two // These Spanx white pants are the only white pants you need for summer.  They’re professional enough for work (even if only on Friday) relaxed enough for weekend.  Prefer jeans?  J.Crew Factory is the spot.

I would add a belt to finish the look, because no matter how hard I try, these pants just don’t look finished without a belt.  I like this simple one with gold hardware.

This Demellier bag is still the “It Girl” bag of the summer.  If you need a new work tote, this is the one to be seen carrying to look in the know.  Not inexpensive, but not four-figures either.  Try Poshmark as they’re beginning to appear there for less.

Add these affordable Steve Madden sandals.  Throw on the cool sunglasses from yesterday and a chic earring.  And don’t forget the SPF.
