When I changed up my newsletter late this summer, I stopped writing The Edition. This week, I got an actual e-mail petition from 11 readers who work together at one of our state legislature’s asking to bring it back “in some form.” Well, they got their wish.
The truth is, I simply have too many links to share for one newsletter. So you can catch the Tuesday newsletter and our new Thursday interview series on Substack.

One Long, Interesting Read. Betty Friedan and the Movement that Outgrew Her.
This Sheet Pan Steak and Vegetables is the perfect meal to make for your in-laws, a Friday night date, or a Sunday Dinner with friends. It was easy and quick, and the leftovers were great the next day. Who says you need to dirty every dish in the kitchen to make a nice meal?

Hey Abra– sorry to be this person but the shoes link goes to the New Yorker Betty Friedan article. I am truly intrigued by sub $50 shoes though!
Don’t be sorry. Thanks for telling me. It’s these. https://shopstyle.it/l/b21oU
It sounds really stressful to have to condense everything holidays related into just two weeks. By the time I get around to baking cookies, we’re already two weeks in anyway. And also deal with my kids noticing that everyone else has their decorations up and we don’t.
Agreed! I am fine with confining Christmas things to the weekends in December. It allows me the space to fit in our favourite traditions. However, elf on the shelf is a never in my house. I will die on that hill!!!!
I don’t understand why any parent would want to participate in elf on the shelf. It seems so stressful. Granted I just have a one year old, so who knows if I will surrender to the social pressure, but I have absolutely no desire to take part in that. We didn’t have it as a kid. It’s not my tradition. Is Santa (and in my family, Three Kings Day in January) not enough?
Agree. Having the whole month makes it much easier to fit in all the things I want without it feeling rushed, but I am not the type of mom who worries about making every day magical (I just aim for a magical season). If your outlook is different, I can see how that would be stressful.
Curious – How much is the Substack subscription? How does what you post there on Tuesdays compare to this? Thanks for making this free version!
$6 per month. There’s nothing to purchase in the Substack usually, just articles. The first pick of articles I save for the week goes in there. The posts about each article are a bit longer. Then, the Interview series on Thursdays as well.
Abra, we stopped watching news at our house on TV. What are your favorite reading sources to keep you up to date on world events and general life topics (career, women’s issues, etc.)
I meant the NYT morning newsletter and the Axios AM/PM. I also follow Mosheh on Instagram.
