Having a baby changes your body in ways that you can’t imagine. Eleven months later, I am still regrowing the hair I lost. It’s fantastic, especially for a woman as concerned about how her hair looks as I am.
My colorist did a phenomenal job giving me the perfect sun kissed highlights, but after a couple of weeks, my hair felt lifeless again. Suspecting that I might have a problem with product buildup, I went looking for a clarifying shampoo that wouldn’t wreck my new color. And boy, did I find a great one.
Formulated to work on any hair type, K18’s Peptide Prep Clarifying Detox Shampoo is a dream. The Detox shampoo has salicylic acid and activated charcoal to clear buildup from the scalp, root, and hair shaft. And unlike every other clarifying shampoo I’ve ever used, it doesn’t strip my hair. My hair feels impossibly soft after I use it; I am actually baffled by how that’s possible.
Once my hair is clarified, every Sunday, I apply the Molecular Repair Hair Oil to repair as much damage as possible. The key with the oil is to let it sit for a few minutes before you style your hair, but don’t wait too long. Five minutes is plenty.
If you want to give these products a try, Sephora has a set that includes the Detox shampoo, the Repair Oil, and the Repair Hair Mask (which has replaced my daily conditioner). I bought this set for a trip later this summer because the smaller sizes are great for that.
Bottom line, I love this shampoo. My hair feels so lively and soft when I use it. I can’t recommend it enough.

My hair changed too after I had my babies back in the 90’s. For the first time in my life (I am 60) I have settled on HairStory. My husband uses it too – his hair is very curly, wired and below his shoulders. What I like about Hair Story is it leaves no residue so it cannot build up. Plus, it leaves the hair smelling really clean and fresh.
