Several years ago, when I was walking the marble halls of Congress, I bought a pair of Cole Haan pumps. They were spectacular — simple, comfortable — the perfect shoe for the office. When they finally gave out, I was heartbroken.
I tried to replace them many times, but the Cole Haan brand had changed. The shoes weren’t as well made or as comfortable. It was a disappointment. So imagine my surprise when I tried on a pair a few weeks ago and discovered that the brand had risen from the ashes like a phoenix.
These Vandam Pointed Toe Pumps are the perfect work heel. The cushioned footbed makes walking a breeze. The 3.75″ heel is a bit higher than I usually wear, but with such a well made shoe, I hardly notice the additional three-quarters of an inch.
The brand has several more styles to choose from. I love these leopard slingbacks for spring. If you need a flat, these Vanessa points give you a little bit of lift with all of the comfort of a heel-free shoe. Have a summer wedding coming? These knotted sandals are the way to go.

Do you think these would work with a bunion?
I remember fondly my Cole Haan with Nike technology pumps that I wore to death in the 2007-2012 time frame. When the few pairs I had finally wore out I found the same thing, that the brand was just not that well made anymore. I used to go for the higher heels because that cushioning made them comfortable, even for walking around DC. You’ve inspired me to try Cole Haan again.
