Happy Hour: Sippin’ and Sittin’ on a Porch Swing

Jun 10, 2022

My Mother grew up in the South.  So growing up we always had a porch swing.  Sometimes, we would just sit on it and watch grass grow or listen to the rain.  So when I spotted this cocktail on the Woodford Reserve website, I suddenly wished that I had a porch swing (and a cocktail, but hey, just three months of pregnancy left).  Here’s the recipe.

With flavors of lemon, peach, honey and Bourbon, this Porch Swing cocktail is the summer cocktail for the days when you don’t want to drink seltzer from a can.  If you want the honey to blend into this icy cocktail, make a honey syrup instead.  In the winter, this cocktail might even be tasty hot, with a stirred-in peach jam, instead of fresh peaches.

This recipe and more are available on the Cheers to the Host website that sorts cocktail recipes by event, spirit, and even the size of the gathering.  Give it a look before your next party.

I adore this easy, breezy eyelet dress from Maisie.  It comes in five colors.  The white and pink are my favorites.  It’s the perfect toss on dress to style for dinner, drinks, or just a backyard barbecue.

Eyelet is so great for summer, and there are plenty of frocks on sale right now that come in this summery, pretty fabric.  LOFT has an incredible maxi dress.  Need sleeves?  Karen Kane has you covered.  This ASOS dress gives you eyelet with a bit of color.  And this off-the-shoulder dress feels like you should wear it while running through a wheat field.

If white isn’t your jam, this bright yellow dress from Anthro is fabulous.  I also love this coral-pink dress with eyelet trim.  Or get a little moody with this black dress from Cynthia Rowley.

Plus-size?  This Boohoo tiered dress is an easy frock.  This orange dress is also fabulous.
