Thanks to the heavy wear they’ve been getting during the pandemic, my basic, foundational pieces are taking a beating. I was doing laundry yesterday, and my plain white tees were looking rough. Here are a few of my favorite brands.
Everlane has long been my first stop for t-shirts. Their v-neck tees are my go-to choice for basic white tees. The tees aren’t too thick, not too thin. (If you want a lightweight tee that’s on the opaque side, this is it.) Their Pima cotton scoop neck tee reminds me of the great tees J.Crew sold in the early-2000s. I also like their long-sleeve tees.
The sizing at Everlane runs XS to XL in the tees. The Everlane size guide places that at 0 to 16.
Velvet by Graham and Spencer is one of the best brands I have ever found for jersey pieces. I have their long sleeve tee in the darker colors (I find it a bit too thin in white.). Their wrap-front tee looks great under a work blazer, but it feels like wearing pajamas all day.
I also love their Hazel tee, which is cropped in the front and long in the back. It looks great layered over workout clothes after the gym. Looking for tees that are 100% cotton? Their cotton slub tees are fantastic.
Sizing for Velvet runs XS to XL, which translates to sizes 2 to 12.
Caslon is an in-house brand at Nordstrom that makes great tees. Their long-sleeve scoop tee is one of my faves. They make the same style in plus-size.
The Caslon tees wear well. I’ve had the same striped tee for two years, and through dozens of washes, it’s held up. The size range is also petites to plus, so you can find something for almost any figure.

Love suggestions for white tee. My grey cardigans (all cardigans, really) and black ponte pants (like a legging-but-not-quite) are all looking a little tatty and out of date if you’re looking for more subjects!
