Sudden breakouts are the worst. These eruptions can be caused by stress, hormones, wearing a mask, and a host of other internal and external factors. And when one comes up, how do you heal it quickly?
There are so many masks, creams, and serums that promise miraculous recoveries, that it’s impossible to tell the sensational from the snake oil. So when I find one that is truly amazing, I have to tell everyone.
The INKEY List is a new-to-me brand that focuses on educating people about their skin and helping them select the products that are right for them. They’re committed to transparency in their ingredient lists, using recyclable packaging, and keeping costs accessible to a wide array of customers.
The INKEY List’s C-50 Blemish Treatment was a product that kept popping up in my feed. But being skeptical of the latest wonder-product, I waited a few months to give it a go. And frankly, I’m sorry that I waited so long to try it.
Using a combination of Vitamins C and E mixed with Salicylic Acid, this gel is applied over your regular serum before bed. The product “helps reduce bacteria counts on the skin” and sloughs away dead skin cells. The formula is also designed to brighten and refine the skin.
There are very few products that produce visible results on the first try, but this one does. I was on the front end of a post-period breakout the first time I tried the treatment. A couple of fresh red spots, and newly inflamed pores were popping up, including an old cyst that was roaring back to life.
One application, and they were all smaller, and many were gone. Two applications, and it was like the breakout had never even started. So I decided to put the product to the real tests: my persistent chest acne caused by my moisturizing conditioner.
Four nights in a row, I have applied a think layer of this gel to my chest and blemishes that were red and angry last week are now well on their way to healing. Clogged pores that resists even diligent exfoliation are now clear. And, if you have body acne, you know how tough it can be to see any progress, so to see a lot of progress so quickly feels miraculous.
I love this product so much that I already restocked it. I’m not even waiting for it to empty.
Don’t have acne? INKEY’s Vitamin C brightening serum is the cure for dull skin. I just purchased their Caffeine Eye Cream and Fulvic Acid Cleanser on the recommendation of the same person who steered me toward the Overnight Treatment.
The INKEY List makes 34 products with clean ingredients and affordable prices. So if you’ve been searching for a new retinol, a new face wash, or a new serum, give their products a look.

Ordered! I CANNOT believe how affordable that was.. I didn’t deal with acne for most of my life, but since going of hormonal BC, I am learning a whole new world with my 35-yo skin. Thanks for the recommendations!
Ugh I’m in the exact same boat as you!!
I’m three-months-out on this journey, and it does get infinitely better!
Abra, I see that the instructions say to use this in place of the moisturizing step of your nighttime routine. Is that what you’ve been doing? (I’m nervous to skip moisturizing with how dry my skin gets in the winter. Haha)
I apply eye cream, but no moisturizer. My skin has not dried out or felt parched.
I’d be really interested on an update for this in a few weeks/couple of months.
I am OBSESSED with the 15% Vitamin C and EGF Brightening Serum. For years I’ve tried Vitamin C’s only to have pretty extreme purging and clogged/dirty pores to the point I couldn’t take it.
But the Inkey list product is a godsend and makes my skin look fantastic, so much so that several of my friends have bought it as well. It’s that good.
The only negative is that the packaging does approximately what it looks like in that picture… it’s not the best but thankfully the products are all pretty budget friendly so I don’t feel like it’s too wasteful.
Just ordered this, thanks for the rec! I’m going to try it on my shoulders to clear them up before summer.
I’ve tried a bunch of different vitamin C serums over the last year or so, but have yet to find one I really like. I’ll have to add this to my next Sephora order!
Does anyone know if this can be used with a retinoid?
The questions on the INKEY website say it can. But chat them with your specific retinoid — They followed up quickly. https://bit.ly/3fsTqRc
Aaand added to my Sephora cart, along with their vitamin c serum (thanks to commenters!). Holding out until the Sephora sale starts in a few days, but my cart is already a dozen+ items long and I’m excited to try this new (to me) brand out!
