Many of you may think February is too late to be buying sweaters. It’s actually the perfect time to buy sweaters because they’re all on sale. And as long as you grab classic styles, they can easily be packed away for next year. Just grab your favorite moth repellant to protect them in storage.
I chose this Halogen sweater because it’s a fantastic basic that comes in six fantastic colors. The length is phenomenal for wearing with leggings. The mock neck is a looser alternative to the turtleneck, so you don’t feel like it’s suffocating you. And it comes in both misses and petite sizes. Oh, and did I mention it was under-$75?
Looking for a similar sweater in plus? This ivory funnel neck has a similar look. I also like this camel mock neck sweater.
Left // This is a nicer work from home outfit than I usually wear, but I wanted something that would work for a client Zoom call. Layering the collared shirt, with the collar popped, underneath the sweater gives you a really interesting neckline that looks great on a Zoom call. The collared shirt just gives you a great business-attire look.
The shirt I chose is the very long Aday Something Borrowed shirt. It has an incredible, tunic length. It also has a stand collar that makes layering a breeze. If you need a comfortable shirt to wear over leggings, it’s the best. I also like this more affordable Side Stitch tunic and this under-$60 Ember shirt.
I chose a navy legging and coordinating navy Rothy’s. My favorite leggings are still the Colorfulkoala’s 7/8 leggings with the pockets. They’re the best.
Not loving Rothy’s for this? These discounted Ugg-style slippers come in navy, so they blend seamlessly with the leggings or with jeans.
I wanted to bring a little color to the outfit for a Zoom call look. I adore these Oceano huggie hoop with green enamel. I also like these coral ones from Banana Republic.
For the hair, I would wear it off my collar to give the earrings some love. My hair is a bit shorter now, so I use a variation of this updo from Kate at The Small Things Blog.
Right // This outfit is a great late winter or early spring outfit for a casual office. The white jeans are a great choice for winter or summer. And the boots keep it professional, but chic.
These jeans are the Pyper Mid-Rise Jean from 7 for all Mankind. Personally, I wear an NYDJ white jean. And since they now make a pull on white pair, I’ll be snapping those up for summer. My body is not white denim ready right now if I need to snap the front, so a pull-on feels infinitely more comfortable. Plus-size? Try these Sheri ankle jeans from NYDJ.
I chose a trench for this, as it’s going to be warm soon enough. This one from Banana Republic is a good basic. But, for the money, my favorite trench is this one from London Fog. They also come in plus.
For the boots, I thought these Chinese Laundry boots had a great, classic look to them. I also like these lighter suede boots, which have a shorter heel.
I added a pearl and gold-accented earring to brighten the look a bit. And with such a neutral palette, I would recommend a red lipstick like this Honest Beauty sheer lip balm.

Love the look of that tunic. And love that it’s no-iron!
And the sweater link is wrong at the moment!
The link for the sweater is going to the moth repellent, but I love both of these looks.
Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out.
Well now those green huggie earrings are in my cart! The perfect color pop that doesn’t get in the way of masks for teaching <3
I was just thinking this week that I needed this! I would love to see some options for black/dark sweaters. I just got a new black funnel neck sweater on deep discount that I really want to wear before it warms up too much, but it looked so dark when I tried it on.
Just ordered those green earrings!!
Abra, I have now ordered 3 pairs of the Koala leggings. I have zero regrets.
Any thoughts on ADAY in terms of quality? The clothes are expensive so I want the products to justify the purchase.
I bought one of the sweatshirts. I feel the quality is good, probably as good as MM LaFleur or another like priced brand. I am hoping for a sale though.
Told myself I wasn’t buying any more sweaters this year … and then I saw this post! This looks perfectly cozy, and I can’t wait to get in the mail soon.
That sweater arrived in my December Truck Club and I have worn it over and over. It is brilliant: soft and warm, dress up or down. The clincher was that it came in petite so the sleeves are just right and don’t have to be cuffed.
