Yesterday, a publication asked me to participate in a story about COVID routines. I imagined all of the other “influencers” with their ritualistic routines talking about matcha powder and yoga flows and just laughed. Routine? What the hell is that?
Currently, my only routine is Netflix and chill. And not the fun, euphemistic kind.
Well, there might be a second routine: Daily jersey dress wearing.
This striped tank dress from Daily Ritual is my current favorite. It replaced my rust-colored Lived In dress at the top of the ticket.
The fabric is really soft. The side slits keep it cool, even on hot days. And the straighter, Bateau-tank styling keeps it very relaxed.
I just get out of the shower, put on a jersey dress, and go about my day. It’s not much of a routine, but it is consistent.

Think I’m finally hitting my stride with pandemic routines, they involve a rotation of knit joggers and shelf-bra tanks in different colors, daily walks around the neighborhood and lots of stretching. Not very interesting to write about but somehow providing me the consistency and structure I need to keep from falling to pieces. That said, school starts in a few weeks so no routine is foolproof.
I chortled at, “not the fun, euphemistic kind.”
I have been desperately clinging to a semblance of a routine that vaguely resembled what things kind of, sort of looked like before all this. It isn’t easy, but that much keeps my head in check.
Sorry for the loss of dear Sophie. Hope you two, and Avery, are as okay as can be expected at a time like this.
