I love Lululemon leggings, I do. But spending $98 for leggings has never sat right with me.
I’ve tried all of the Lulu replacements — Athleta, Core10, CRZYoga, etc. — and they’re good. They have their plusses and their minuses. I liked them. Sometimes, I loved them. But I always ended up back in my Lulus.
Until I bought these leggings from Colorfulkoala on Amazon. I mentioned them yesterday, but they need their own post. Let’s run through why they’re so fantastic.
- The fabric is smooth and thick like Lululemon. I actually mistook them for a pair of Wunder Unders when I pulled them out of the drawer for the first time.
- The shaping and compression is flattering like Wunder Unders. It lifts and shapes, but doesn’t squeeze.
- They have pockets, which is a value add in a COVID world where I need a mask all the time.
- The 7/8 leggings are a great ankle-length for anyone 5’5″ to 5’8″.
Colorfulkoala has a lot of lengths, colors, prints, and styles of leggings on their page. They also have joggers and shorts. Their leggings run under-$35 per pair, and are worth every penny. Like I said, I’ve tried all the Lulu replacements, and I liked them. But these have me ready to sell my Lulus on Poshmark, so it’s serious.

These are also available directly from the Colorful Koala website – so for those who are interested in purchasing and aren’t purchasing from Amazon for any reason, that might also be an option!
Thanks for that pointing that out, Annie! I rather support the business directly.
Helpful, but worth noting that by purchasing through the links above, you’re supporting this blog (thanks to the affiliate links).
It’s okay. If you have strong feelings about a retailer and you want to avoid them, I understand. I have places that I refuse to shop.
Added to cart!
My absolute favorite leggings are a lived-in zella pair and my only complaint is the inside pocket is too small for something like a phone.
Absolutely agree with this post. I have several Zellas. Wish they had better pockets.
Even the ones with slash pockets? I’m only buying Zellas now with those pockets. I’ll concede that I’ve only walked in them with a phone in the pocket, and haven’t tried to run with a phone or anything.
I LIVE in those pocket leggings. I have run with a phone in the pocket with no issue.
That being said, I just picked up 2 pairs of these to see how they compare.
Same! I am down to find a cheaper version.
How’s the sizing run?
Also highly recommend these during pregnancy. They will stretch and still hold their shape after.
Hey Belle, what’s up with the “testing” post preceding this one?
I’m working on adding some content that will be behind a paywall. So essentially, everyone will be able to see two posts per day. A third post will be for members only. It’s something I want to try, but making the software work has been a challenge.
Can anyone who has tried these or other Lulu-alternatives comment on two things in comparison to Lululemon: the cut/design and the fabric feel?
I have tried one of the Amazon leggings suggested as a Lululemon replacement and the cut and seams were exactly like the Align leggings, but the fabric was more of a shiny/slippery fabric, vs. the soft/naked fabric of the Aligns (similar to Lululemon Nulux fabric). Then there are Amazon leggings with a similar fabric to the Aligns, but the top of the waistband has a seam, rather than the seamless design of the Aligns. I haven’t yet found a perfect replacement.
Thanks!
I have a pair of these and compared to my lulus, they pill. That is my biggest pet peeve. I do not think they quality compares. They are fine for hanging around the house but nothing more. Just my opinion.
This fabric is not Align fabric. It’s more of a Wunder Under, smooth fabric.
That’s helpful, thank you! The quest continues…
I needed this post as I’ve been trying to get back into a regular, consistent workout routine! Your amazon recommendations are always the absolute best ❤️
Leggings are strictly loungewear for me, but I got my absolute favorite pair from Aldi. They’re a cotton/modal blend which is insanely soft and super-comfy. I wear them nonstop in the winter and they have held up like a champ. I should’ve gotten 5 pairs.
I so needed this post! And thank you for providing options with pockets. Purchased!
The reviews on the page show a lot of inconsistent sizing–an issue that seems to come up a lot on Amazon clothes. Does anyone have experience with these? At least one reviewer shows a 4 inch difference between colors on their shorts. I’d like some more running shorts and specifically am looking for high wasted, pocketed, with length to keep my thighs from burning!
