The Find: Affordable, High-Quality Leggings

May 13, 2020

I love Lululemon, but $98 for leggings is not sustainable when your pandemic wardrobe is 60% leggings.  I wasn’t pleased with the last pair of Zella leggings that I ordered, so I decided to go back to an Amazon brand called Core 10.

These All Day Comfort 7/8 Leggings are my current favorite.  They’re <$30, come in 15 colors and prints, and run in sizes XS to 3X.

Their basic black leggings come in your choice of high or medium waist.  They also offer a ‘build your own’ straight leg yoga pant that lets you choose their length and waist style.

The brand makes several other pieces that caught my attention.  Their long sleeve workout tee looks like an exact dupe for my favorite Athleta top.  Their “full figure” sports bra claims to provide all day comfort to the wearer.  They even stock dresses, including this super cute twist-front sweatshirt dress.

So if you’re looking for a mid-price athleisure brand that sells well-made pieces, give Core 10 a try.

WalMart’s Avia brand average $10 to $15 per pair, have matching coordinates, and last forever. I haven worn Athleta, Lululemon, etc since the beginning, but no longer buy them thanks to walmart.com. Definitely never thought I would say that.

Over the holidays I got a few pairs of PACT organic cotton pocket leggings and I didn’t realize how much I had been missing a pocket in my leggings! They’re a nice thick fabric, have a high wide waistband and…POCKETS! Who knew?! They fit my phone or a house key or a card perfectly. Other brands have pocket leggings too, but I agree, while $100 leggings are luxurious they are tough to have enough for every day.

I have a pair of these leggings. I like the thickness – they are not at all sheer and feel nice on – but they always seem to slide down and lose their shape as the day goes on. I also find them less supportive around the waist than other leggings I own. I wear them around the house or for quick errands; IMO they aren’t up to snuff for workouts. Can’t beat the price, though!

Costco also sells a great two pack of Felina leggings- super comfortable and durable, not at all opaque.

I 100% agree about Costco leggings! I didn’t believe my friend when she told me but they are soft, don’t sag, and not sheet at all. For the record, I am a curvier human.

Core10 bras are awesome. I have the one Abra linked to, but like this one even better:

36DD. No movement when running or doing krav maga. It’s like magic.

Thank you for the tip! Ordering a pair now. My last pair of Zella did not hold up and am sitting in a pair of Athlete that just don’t feel substantial or supportive.

Lululemon has done all sorts of racist crap – the company name was intentionally made to be as difficult to pronounce as possible for Asian consumers, their founder is a piece of shit, and the quality is completely not worth it. I’m happy to find alternatives.

Chip is a real jerk. I’m glad they’ve been slowly pushing him out, but I wish they’d speed up.

This post is timely, I’ve been hunting on Athleta and Nordstrom sites and haven’t found a price point or style that I like. Thank you!
