Like many people we’re down to one grocery run every 10 days. So ingredients for fun cocktails are not a priority, but it feels like they should be. Here’s a cocktail you can make with things from your cupboards.
Simply Whisked provides the formula for the perfect jam cocktail. (Yes, jam. Yes, the kind you put on toast.) The recipe gives you the ratios to make a jam cocktail using whatever jam, liquor, liqueur, and citrus juice (lemon or lime works best) you have around.
I had fig preserves from Trader Joe’s (put it on a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with arugula and it will change your life), so I cooked up a fig, Bulleit Bourbon, Grand Marnier, and lemon cocktail. I liked it straight, but when I mixed the concoction into black tea and served it over ice, it really soared.
Get ready kids, tie-dye has become the style ambassador of the Covid-Quarantine. You can go with a tie-dye sweatsuit, like all the cool kids, or something a bit more subtle that you’ll actually wear again.
Enter this simple t-shirt dress from 525 America. Pretty, on-trend, and doesn’t look like a pint of Wavy Gravy. Plus-size? I like this dress from Lane Bryant.
I also found this Cloth & Stone dress that’s work appropriate and more of a batik. And I LOVE this easy black and white, tie-dye stripe dress from Karen Kane.
Like the tie-dye look but want something classic enough you could wear it next year? This top from Sea and this one from Ulla Johnson caught my eye.

This is so timely. I adore tie-dye and ordered a brightly colored sweatshirt. But when I tried it on, I thought, “am I really going to wear this after the pandemic?” I haven’t yet decided.

Yesss – thank you for this! This weekend we tried to make so many different cocktails and didn’t have any of the right ingredients.
THat fig jam sandwich combo sounds delicious!!! I just need some bacon! intrigued to try the cocktail, especially with the tea version.
