Saw It On Social: Small Packages

Mar 28, 2019

I love giving gifts and sending cards.  But being a professional woman, I don’t always have time to shop for and send the right gift.  When a friend gets engaged or buys a home, I often find myself meaning to buy a gift but running out of time.  Enter Small Packages.

I did not buy this SIOS item myself, it was purchased for me as a gift by my friend Hitha Palepu.  She sent me a little celebration gift from Small Packages and I was very impressed by the gift and, of course, her thoughtfulness.  It was such a nice pick me up at the end of a hard week.  It really brightened my day.

Small Packages curates gifts for a variety of life events from birthdays to engagements, thank you and house warmings.  Boxes come in three price points: $35, $50, and $100.  The number of items in each gift box vary by price.  Every box contains a handwritten letterpress card with a cheeky note.

Take for example the Birthday Box.  The $35 box contains a sweet treat, ombre birthday candles, a soothing face mask, and an inspirational book to help your friend have her best year.  The $100 box also contains a set of lovely bangle bracelets and a graphic t-shirt.

If you live far from friends and family, Small Packages is a great way to send the ladies in your life a nice gift.  The contents are thoughtful, quality, and well-curated.  Just choose the type of gift you need and your price point, and Small Packages will do the rest.  It’s like having a personal shopper.  So next time you need a quick gift mailed to a loved one, give Small Packages a try,

I usually buy Saw it on Social items myself, but I received this gift organically.  It did not come after consultation with the brand or through any payment from the brand.  It was just a lovely surprise that was very much appreciated.  And I’m sure the women I send Small Packages in the future will love them too.

**A reader pointed out in the comments that Hitha is an investor in Small Packages.  I didn’t know that at the time I took the gift or wrote the post.  I accepted the gift from my friend, I didn’t realize the chain of custody was a little muddy.

This is such a great idea it leaves me wondering “why didn’t I think of that?” Thanks for sharing!

I love Emily McDowell for little gifts. They don’t have a gift option which is annoying but the cards and mugs are incredibly witty.

I love Box Fox for this type of gift. Same concept, but the greatest selection for customization I’ve found. They also have pre-prepared boxes if you want something quick. I’ve had great success for long-distance friends and SIL presents https://shopboxfox.com/

p.s. Congratulations on your news!! I hope you’ve gotten to take some time to enjoy in the midst of all the craziness. It goes by so quickly.

Hitha is an investor in Small Packages, though.

    • Belle says:

Oh, I didn’t know that. I’ll add that to the disclaimer.

    • Hitha says:

I’m an investor, but it’s because I genuinely love the product and would be a customer if I never had invested. I sent Abra the gift to commemorate a special moment in her life, not to feature on the blog. That would have been a different kind of post and disclosure entirely.

I went to law school with the founder of Small Packages and she is an amazing human who is doing great things with her company. I’m so excited to see it featured here!

  7. Nadine says:

Congrats on your bill (and the other happy news), Belle! That’s super important work.

    • Belle says:

So happy about the bill. And now, we go to the House. (Translation, please don’t let it die in the other chamber.)

Awesome gift idea. Teak and Twine is a similar, woman owned company that curates beautiful gift boxes and that I really like. https://www.teakandtwine.com/

    Thanks for sharing Belle!

I have used it twice since I read this. Just the thing I have been looking for! I moved to Asia last year and it has not been easy to celebrate small wins with friends and family long distance. Thanks so much for the recommendation!
