Yesterday, I bought this incredible dress from the Halogen x Atlantic Pacific collaboration. But it’s sleeveless. Not ideal for the winter months.
So I decided to pick up a pair of Spanx arm tights in black to give me some arm coverage. I’m hopeful that I can also wear them under an ivory and black dress that gets stowed away each winter. I’ll report back my findings on whether they really work.

Thank you for pointing out the fake sephora reviews. Also love your pick on the collection! That dress looks great.
5 am always seems like a great, productive ambitious idea…. until the night before. and then the night afterwards. I mean, that extra hour or 2 comes from somewhere – you end up going to bed at like 8 or 9pm, which may be fine, but if you get off of work at 5pm or 6pm, then there goes your evening. If you’re not in bed that early, you’re definitely grumpy. You can try to catch up on the weekends, I guess, but then the 5am will be a struggle come Monday. Good luck! I’m a Night Owl and have just decided to accept that about me and rearrange my whole life (shower at night, lay out my clothes, etc.) to support me the way I am. And I CAN get up at 5 am if I HAVE to, it’s just UGH!
The trick I’ve found is to do use the time change to your advantage. You’re already used to getting up at that time, so keep getting up at was 6, but is now 5.
very anxious to hear how the arm tights work. Once thought I have is there are so many diff. shades of black, want to know how it looks with the dress. The dress is amazing.
I’m interested too!! I was just looking at a long sleeve bodysuit to help with the same thing (from Capezio for $18 on Amazon). I’d imagine the SPANX option would be far more convenient and less restrictive! Can’t wait to hear…
I tried the Spanx arm tights, but was hoping they’d be opaque (i.e. like wearing a shirt under the dress), but they’re very see-through which was disappointing and gave the “thin tights” look. I didn’t want people to actually know I had tights on my arms…
I recently started getting up at 5 a.m. for exactly the reasons the author states. I doubt it will be lifelong situation but I absolutely relish the 1.5 hours of kid and work free time, it really does feel like a secret club of sorts.
I found the article on redefining ambition for women to be somewhat problematic. Let me be clear that I am 100% in support of women (or men, for that matter) pursuing flexible work arrangements if that is what they want. But I take serious issue with the idea of encouraging any woman to temper her ambition and settle for a part time track when what she really wants is the corner office. What we really need to redefine are the cultural norms surrounding the intersections of gender, careers, and child rearing (but that’s a whole different conversation).
Again, fully support the content of the article and the resources it offers for people who wish to pursue flexible work schedules, but it isn’t necessary to predicate that conversation on the idea that women might be making the wrong choice by pursuing their ambitions.
I have the Old Navy sweater in Icelandic Mineral and it’s a gorgeous color. I hadn’t purchased from ON in a while and was actually pleasantly surprised. The cardigan is a lovely length/shape (the influencer who convinced me to get it said it was a Madewell dupe, I believe), and while it isn’t the best quality it’ll be good for a bit. Very soft yarn and the color is just subtle and more high-end looking than I thought it would be. Ended up buying a second cardigan in black because you really can never have enough cozy black stuff in the winter, no? 🙂
Please let us know how you like the arm tights! I told a few girlfriends I wanted to try them and they laughed at me asking why I didn’t just use a long sleeve T-shirt. But I’m still convinced I will love them.
