What are your best purchases? The ones that your wear until they fall apart. The ones you buy multiples of. The ones you recommend to everyone. Over the next two weeks, I’ll share the ten (recent-ish) purchases that I consider my very best.
I bought this J.Crew Striped Tissue Turtleneck ($17) two years ago, and ever since, it has been a staple in my wardrobe. I loved it so much that when I shrunk the first one, I ordered two more, just in case.
The fabric is incredibly soft. Even though it’s a tissue tee, it’s not particularly sheer, though it is lightweight. It’s a very comfortable piece for layering.
My one word of caution would be that it will shrink if washed on any setting other than cold. But the colors don’t fade, and unlike so many of my J.Crew tees, this one has held together well.
This turtleneck tee is also available in plus-size, up to 3x.

I have this turtleneck, and love it with jeans and a blazer for casual Fridays, but am at a bit of a loss for how to wear it in my business casual office the rest of the week – any suggestions?
tucked into a pencil skirt?
I also wear mine under a sleeveless sheath dress.
I love turtleneck tees. Do I wear it under a turtleneck sweater? Can I wear it under a v-neck, crew-neck, scoop neck? I never understand how to layer necklines, especially if they are two different kinds.
I’m interested that this one isn’t sheer. I have a black one and a different striped one that I got on sale but rarely wear because they’re so sheer.
These are a staple in my wardrobe. Insanely good layering pieces and they hold up pretty well. I’ve had some of mine for 3+ years. My only complaint is that some of them pilled a little between the layers of fabric. It’s not noticeable when I wear them, just an annoyance.
YES!!! Very excited to read this series Belle!
I’d love to see your top 10 styled into outfits, like you do with 3 ways posts!
I think that would be fairly impossible to do, but I’ll think on it, maybe there’s a way.
Agree that this would be extremely helpful! Honestly, your mirror pics of how you style things you own are often more valuable to me than collages of new items. They inspire me to think of items I already have in my closet instead of clicking through to new things.
Would you suggest sizing up due to the shrinkage factor?
It shrinks up shorter, not tighter. So you should be good with your original size, just cold water wash and lay flat to dry
