2017 Holiday Gift Guide: Splurge-Worthy Presents

Dec 11, 2017

While many gift givers are hunting for affordable presents, sometimes it’s nice to splurge.  This post covers fabulous gifts over-$100 for the recipients who deserve a little something extra.

For the Hard to Shop For Lady

A cashmere wrap is the splurge gift for the woman who’s hard to shop for.  This White + Warren travel wrap ($298) is a luxe, useful gift that just about anyone will appreciate.  I love the forest green, but it also comes in a selection of other hues.  If you need a more affordable alternative, Everlane has a $150 cashmere scarf that’s supposed to be pretty great.

For the Twenty-Something

The HP Sprocket ($129) is a pocket-sized printer so you can print copies of your favorite photos straight from your cell phone.  I think I need one for the holidays.  I love that the photos have stick-em on the back so you can attach them to your mirror, fridge, etc..

For the Practical Girl

Cuyana’s leather travel case set ($125) is a great gift for any woman.  I feel like every blogger I know owns a set.  They come in a wide variety of colors and you can monogram them for your recipient.  They also sell a leather jewelry case to keep all your baubles in check, and a selection of leather pouches that also double as clutches in a pinch.

For the Wine Aficionado

The Coravin Model Two Wine System ($299) is the perfect way to pour yourself a glass of wine without spoiling the whole bottle.  The needle penetrates the cork, which reseals to prevent the rest of the wine from spoiling.  This is the ideal gift for the wine-drinker in your life.

For the Effortlessly Cool Girl

I love Melissa Joy Manning‘s  jewelry and these Spinel Earrings ($365) are no exception.  They’re a little trendy, totally unique, but still feminine and wearable.  If you’re looking for something a little more subtle, these Herkimer Diamond Hoops have been on my wishlist forever.

For the Skincare Guru

The GloPRO Microneedling Regeneration Tool ($199) is one of my best purchases of 2017.  Using the roller triggers skins natural healing process by stimulating the production of collagen.  Consistent use of the tool helps plump skin, smoothing fine lines, acne scarring and uneven texture.  I’ve been using it for a little over a month and I’m already seeing results.

For the Feminist

Lingua Franca cashmere sweaters are a cool, cozy holiday gift.  This Work It sweater ($400) is one of my favorites.  The brand also does a selection of politically relevant designs, and will custom make a sweater if you contact them.  I think I’d like to have one made that says, “change it from the inside.”

For the Vacationer

These Calpak Spinner Carry-ons ($135) are everywhere this holiday.  And with cute colors like this rose gold it isn’t hard to see why.  I know that some of you ladies need more durability from your luggage (I recommend AWAY), but if you’re an infrequent traveler, this is a great bag.

For the Queen of the Kitchen

You can use Le Creuset cast iron cookware for anything.  I once baked a cake in one.  This 8-quart Dutch oven ($395) is an amazing gift for any person who loves to cook.  They are versatile, functional, and last a lifetime.  In the under-$150 category, we have a 2.75qt Dutch oven and these adorable stoneware casseroles (perfect for French onion soup or shepherd’s pie).

I’ve had the cuyana pouches for a few years, and they get hard wear as I use them for makeup and travel essentials- I’m flying three days a week, every week. They look as good as new, and I loved having them monogrammed.

Related to the stories about good gifts to give- I got my mom a Cuyana bag and pouch set, and had them monogrammed with her initials. She cried happy tears- she said that as child #5 of 7, she had a lot of handmedowns, and that she always wanted to have things with her name on them- she loved that the monogram indicated that it was hers and hers alone. Even at 59- she LOVES monogrammed things for this reason!

This is a great list. I swear by the White & Warren travel wrap for planes. It’s basically a cashmere blanket and it’s so cozy. Fair warning – it’s a bit big to be a true scarf (unless you like really big scarves!) The Coravin is on my own wishlist…

I’ve been looking to get a travel wrap/scarf, especially since my regular coat doesn’t have enough neck coverage, but those are a bit too rich for my blood. Any suggestions for under $100 alternatives?

A month in, I’m intrigued by your roller results. Are you using it every night?

I cut back to three times per week. It was making my skin a little too sensitive, but I’m really happy with the results.

I want a Le Creuset soooo badly. My sister and I joke that when my mom passes, I get her Le Creuset and my sister can have her diamonds. Except that we’re both totally serious. 🙂
