  1. Addie says:

My dad has had different jobs at multiple companies, but within the same industry for the last 30 years. He has a lot of professional knowledge and I’ve gone to him for advice many times. But until 2016, I’d never truly had a mentor. I started a new job in August and right away, my new boss willingly took on the role of mentoring me. She’ll often say, “I’m telling you this as your mentor” when things come up in conversation that she really wants me to thoroughly understand. Additionally, everyone at my company is assigned a peer mentor when they’re hired and mine is a woman who’s only a year older than me but has been with the company a long time and knows it inside and out. Having both of them in my corner has made all the difference.

In looking at the Limited stuff online, it’s clear to me why they are going out of business. Most of it is HIDEOUS! I actually found a cute dress there last spring, but ugh what they have now is nasty.

    • Belle says:

I noticed that. And I had just seen a jacket I liked, when I went back to get it, gone. I’m asking myself, did it sell out? Or did they sell the “good stuff” to TJ Maxx like other stores do when they go belly up?

      • Anne says:

I think that’s what happened, or maybe they’re liquidating surplus stock from a sister brand? Aside from their hideous Eva Longoria collection, I’ve found them great in recent years for office staples like pencil skirts and sheath dresses. The stuff online is not really reflective of their inventory heretofore. Weird.

I had a $50 gift card so I bought a black wrap dress the other day, we’ll see if it ever ships…

  3. RNSF says:

Those LK Bennett dresses are to die for. I can’t wait to treat myself to some nice zip up dresses once I’m done pumping!

  4. MRitz says:

Belle, can you discuss the Everlane cashmere sweater sizing? I can be a small or medium in sweaters depending on the manufacturer and the sweater. I’m tempted to go medium as I’m liking a slightly longer and loser fit but I’m concerned that it will end up too large as it says ‘relaxed fit.’

    • Belle says:

I would go medium. I am a S or XS, and the small was the right size.

    • Sara says:

I have two of these Cashmere Crew sweaters (bought over 3 years) and I am a steady XS in both. I didn’t find them to be as “relaxed” as indicated, to be honest. I think in this piece you’d be a Medium. But a great thing about Everlane – their exchanges are easy-peasy if you do end up wanting a different size later!
I love these sweaters, enjoy! 🙂

  5. Monica T says:

Love number 5, mostly because I’ve been suffering from some major impostor syndrome anxiety after starting a new job for the first time in over a decade. I do try to use it to be better instead of making me afraid, but my insomnia has been taking a toll. It’s tough leaving your comfort zone, but a lot of great advice in that article.

  6. K says:

I’ve been thinking a lot about imposter syndrome lately. As I’ve tried to find coping skills for my anxiety in 2016 (and will continue doing in 2017) I wonder if talking about imposter syndrome as anxiety would have helped me realize I had a problem earlier. I did go to (lots of) doctors, but it took ten years to get diagnosed and to get medication that helps with the accompanying insomnia. The more I learn about anxiety the more I find that the things I thought were me Doing A Good Job At Things are typical anxiety traits. I think it’s important to talk about imposter syndrome with a caveat that it can go to far and there is help available when it does.

    • Monica T says:

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I try to be open about it as well and sometimes I’m surprised when others have no clue what I’m talking about. It’s then that I realize that this isn’t necessarily “normal” for all people. I’ve suffered from some form of anxiety my entire life, mostly social anxiety. I see now why I like to keep things the same (working somewhere 11 years, staying in relationships for too long, etc) over embracing change. Glad you’ve found some relief.
