1) “She sounds smart, but look at her hair!” The New York Times covers the abuse female television guests take from viewers over their appearance.
2) This floral appliqué dress from Dorothy Perkins is one of the best pieces I’ve seen in months. I love the slightly vintage vibe.
3) 15 Workplace Skills Every Woman Should Master.
4) Lots of lovely under-$100 jewelry pieces from Shopbop. This Rachel Zoe claw ring is amazingly chic. I also like this rose gold link Michael Kors ring. And these Gorjana Ryder studs are simple with a twist.
5) Two people were killed, dozens lost their homes, and firefighters were injured putting out the flames…but, sure, let’s swing by the hazardous area to snap a selfie.
6) Gilt has a wide selection of work dresses both sleeved and sleeveless. This dove grey Ava & Aiden dress is at the top of my list.

Love #3. Actually good advice. A lot of these are things I’ve certainly learned along the way but continue to actively work on.
#1 just boggles the mind doesn’t it. If they weren’t so mean about it, you’d think it was their inner mother just trying to be helpful. I’ve seen comments on wonderful and professional cooking tutorials of all things, where the commenter said nothing about the purpose of the video and made three or four comments on the poor woman’s appearance and diction.
Also on #3, I wish they would start including ‘Be Yourself’ on these things all working women should do. I don’t know if they omit it because some women really are self-deprecating compulsive apologists, or because it’s too obvious, but I find that being my authentic self without thinking about all the popularity politics is the greatest tool to garner the respect of others. It means everything I say isn’t being run through some filter of either making myself more assertive or making myself more ‘likable,’ it’s just what I think, take it or leave it.
What I don’t get about #1 is that these people have to take the time to seek out the person they want to insult. So you abandoned what you were working on, went on the Internet, Googled contact info for a person you don’t know, wrote an insulting screed, pressed send, and thought, what? That you’d just showed some woman the error of her ways? That you were helping her?
Agreed. It makes me want to say something about where/why/when everyone got the impression their opinion mattered so much that they just HAD to share that terribly cruel thing they wanted to say to you or they wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.
I honestly hope this is just a case of squeaky wheels and that most people aren’t doing this.
Have you or any of your followers ordered from Dorothy Perkins? Lots of cute pieces, wondered about quality and fit?
It’s a bit hit or miss. Sometimes I have good luck, sometimes not. The issue with DP is the shipping is kind of a nightmare if you need to return.
