I’m done buying summer clothes. With Labor Day just around the corner, there’s no point. This week, the morning post will feature retailers who sell under-$150 items and their best pieces for fall. First up, Zara.
Zara Boatneck Tube Dress ($80)
Dresses. This dress is a versatile piece for day-to-night. Add a white blazer for work, then switch it out for a chunky necklace and chic sandals for happy hour. This cable-knit sweater dress is also a nice choice. I adore this bold-pink, textured dress with short sleeves.
Tops. This black-and-white mixed fabric blouse is the perfect mix of masculine and feminine. This combined rib top with banded sleeves is very cool. I also love the brushstroke print on this funnel-neck top.
Pants. Yes, pants. These pale pink trousers are awesome.
Handbags. This bucket-shaped tote is awesome. I also love this Bordeaux-colored city bag. And do not miss this bowling bag with knotted handles in a soft pink or a basic black.
I love the Zara dress, but im way too hippy for it.
Side tip, I just bought the greatest dress at Old Navy- a tank fit and flare with zip back made of a nice ponte knit. I got it in a tall to ensure a work appropriate length (I’m 5’5) and it’s awesome for $30. I wear it now on its own, but come fall will pair great with a blazer, cardigan, Or blouse under it. Perfect for curvy/hippy girls (I’m an 18)

Have to second this – I live Zara’s clothes when I see them on the rack, but they are one of the least hip- and bust-friendly contemporary brands I have ever encountered. It’s a shame.
Are Zara leather purses worth $100+?
I think so. I have one of their City Bags and it’s pretty well made.
How long do Zara pieces tend to last for you? I’ve never bought anything from there because I find that whenever I walk in to the store, there are always several items that are already ripped or falling apart. The clothes look great online or in the window, but I just always end up leaving disappointed by the quality. Any tips on what you look for?
I think part of the reason for that is that a few of the customers are young people who were raised by wolves AND the clothing is so tightly packed on the racks. I have several Zara pieces (jackets esp.) that have been worn for two years with regularity.
I recently ordered two Zara pieces online, so they were, presumably, fresh out of the factory when I received them. Both fell apart after one wearing.
If you are thinking fall, and like Zara, it’s time to look at Massimo Dutti. It’s all dreamy.
That sheath dress is a real gem. It looks a lot like one I picked up from Target this weekend, very simple and chic!

I rarely post, but I LOVE the pink pants. However, can someone explain these? https://www.zara.com/us/en/woman/trousers/drop-crotch-sweatpants-c269187p2167014.html
Just the name is enough to wtf? that.
