10th Commandment: April 17

Apr 17, 2013

Whenever I post about white clothing, people leave comments talking about how they can’t wear white because it gets dirty or they’ll spill something on it.  I wear white a lot, A LOT, and except on rare occasions, I’ve never had a problem with it getting dirty.  Even when I ride Metro.  Even when I’m on the move all day.

And if it does, I just pull out my handy Tide pen and treat the damage.  So don’t be afraid of white.

I am a huge fan of the tide to go pen. One thing that I learned the hard way, especially when using on white or other light colors, is to not have the fabric be exposed to the sun soon after. It turns yello

  2. Amanda says:

The only time I notice that I “dirty” white clothes is when I try to smooth something out during the day. I’ll get a smudge of pencil or pen on my finger and habitually smooth out my skirt when I stand up to go wash it off… UGH. but, that is a rare occasion. White looks so nice! fear not!

  3. Rachel says:

Belle, I love the shoes the “elected official” model is wearing… can you find some similar?! Preferably not sky high, but within the 2″-3″ range? Around $100 or less? THANKS!!

p.s I wear white often as well! Occasionaly get makeup on it, but it washes right out, no big deal!

  4. Lynn says:

I agree with this completely. I love, love, love white! And I have a four-year-old and an infant. No fear!

  5. Short & Sweet says:

How do you keep white from getting yellowed and dingy? Also does the Tide pen get rid of the dirt that gradually appears along the hemlines over time?

  6. KC says:

I have trouble with white cardigans and sweaters that turn dingy. Any recommendations on keeping white knits super-white?

  7. Clearly Speaking says:

Of the getting white dirty mindset: do you not wear white shirts?

My reason for avoiding white for other than blouses and jackets is not dirt, but show through.

  8. Short & Sweet says:

Clearly Speaking, I usually have a white shirt in my closet but it gets dingy so quickly that it doesn’t last anywhere near as long as other items.
