Ask Belle: Earn Cash Back with Ebates

Jan 31, 2013

Belle,

You mentioned a website that let’s you earn cash back on your online shopping purchases.  Can you tell me what that was, I can’t find it on your blog.  Thanks!

May

The site is called Ebates.  You visit the site and link to the store (Saks, Sephora, Nordstrom, etc.) through their widget.  It tracks your purchases and you earn cash back on the items you buy, unless you return them to the store.  Every four months, they send the rebate to my Paypal account.

I buy most of my goods, from toilet paper to clothes, online, so I’ve earned anywhere from $100 to $250 per quarter.  If you want to give it a try, click here for an invite.

I use ebates and love it. I actually tried a few things on in stores and then bought them online. A coat at Macy's was $90 in the store and $70 online and then I got my ebates discount on top of that. I did most of my Christmas shopping that way. Since we're all sharing links, here's mine – https://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=u%2BRkQhxFT5oW2H4FXyWEOg%3D%3D

Link is fixed. This is what happens when you write posts on an iPhone. Won't be doing that again.

Also, another suggestion if you do not use ebates and have a credit card – shop with that card through the shopping link on the card's website for extra points per dollar. This month American Express had 3points at J.Crew.

Of course, this only works if you're wisely using your card and not racking up expenses you otherwise wouldn't in the name of points.

There's also http://www.fatwallet.com same concept at ebates, sometimes different % cash back for different stores. I think it started more for tech things, but it's expanded to other stores.
