10th Commandment: January 23

Jan 23, 2013

Hi Belle,

Last year, I purchased a red handbag on your recommendation. I love it. I carry it all the time. Do you have any more suggestions for colorful handbags?

Thank you in advance! Tia

A red handbag is a bold choice, so how about another: a citron bag.  This bright yellow is suited for navy and white in summer, and grey and taupe in winter.

Not feeling bright yellow?  This Coach tote comes in 17 colors.  And if you prefer a neutral palette, this Dooney and Bourke bag comes in eight earth tones.

The first two look far too summer/spring to me to wear in fall or winter.

I have a raspberry bag that I wear a lot more than I thought I would. It's not this bag, but is this color: https://www.katespade.com/cobble-hill-andee/PXRU3179,default,pd.html?dwvar_PXRU3179_color=001&start=1&cgid=handbags
May be too close to red for the OP, but thought I'd mention it for anyone else.

Thanks for finding the Kenneth Cole citron bag, I have beren lusting after the Coach totes (Legacy and Candice) in yellow for a while but they're all out of my price range. Although I may dig up a vintage Coach tote my mom gave me a while back that's a bright teal- theyre making the same color bags again this season.

I have the D&B Dillen satchel in plum, and it is the perfect non-black or brown bag for winter. It goes with all winter neutrals and is cute and interesting but unexpected in purple. I get compliments on it all the time. It's also a great size – not too big but large enough to carry your essentials. I highly recommend it!
