Kate Spade Abstract Bow Belt ($96)
I’ve featured bow belts a handful of times before, but they are in every store right now. This trend started with the modern and chic Lanvin bow belt, but that one is a bit out of a Hill Staffer’s price range. Luckily, they make one in every price point.
This medium width belt, also from Kate Spade, comes in five colors for $68. White House, Black Market has an elastic stretch belt (for a snug fit) with a triple-layered bow for $48. And if you want something on the really low end of the scale, Forever21 has a skinny patent belt for under-$5.
If you just can’t say no to sequins, or you’re just looking for a fun accessory, try this bow belt with multi-colored glitter.
Belle, you show a lot of cute belts on this blog and recommend belting a lot of outfits. What is your rule of thumb for when you belt the dress/skirt/pair of pants and when you belt the sweater/top that you are wearing with it. I particularly have a hard time with said belting dilemma with a cardigan/dress combo for the office; I never know what to belt! Guidance would be great!
Just got a leather bow belt from Ann Taylor that is almost identical to the Lanvin, but sadly I think it's sold out now. I second Leslie's request- how can I wear it? Until now I've been belting dresses, but if there are more creative uses please do share.
You can belt your coat, your cardigan, a blazer. Just don't fasten it too tight.
I like to accessorize with belts but because I have a short torso, belts seem to make me look fat, especially if I try to put a belt on with dresses. Any advice?
M – I have a really short torso, but I find that if I belt dresses higher than my natural waist (almost right under my chest) then it makes my body look longer. It trickier to do with sweaters or blazers because they have to be a very specific length for it to work.
