It’s a rare thing to find a dress that I can wear to a professional office or in my dining room office. And to find it in multiple colors, for under-$100, a unicorn.
The dress is the Caslon Vacation Gauze Dress. The shirtdress style lets it do double duty on a trip to the pool or a trip to the office on Friday. The tie-front is a nice style, and the gauze keeps it light.
Sizing runs XXS (00) to XL (16). They also have a plus-size option in three colors. The fit guide says this runs true to size. Caslon on me, probably due to a smaller bust, usually fits big. So I will size down from the recommended M to a S.
As for color, black is the easiest. My fear is the white will be see-through and the navy peacoat will look cheap. I’m thinking about this Brown Raisin, which I think will look really nice in the summertime with bronzed skin (UV-given or sprayed on).
Caslon has a number of fantastic picks for spring. In addition to this dress, they have a gauze button up that would look great with white denim. This striped t-shirt dress is really nice. Caslon is not a fashion-forward line by any stretch of the imagination, but there is always a gem to be found.

I would love to hear your styling tips on a dress like this. Mid length dresses are having such a moment, but I always feel uncomfortable in them. How do you bring the pizazz in a dress that hits right above your ankle? Thanks, Abra! Hope you’re slaying this busy week.
This is a great dress – I ordered it last month! Agree it does run a size big. I’m petite (5’0) and had to return because the XS just didn’t fit right on my torso and it was too complicated to tailor. It was a wonderful fabric and I’m so bummed it didn’t work.
I have a guaze button up shirt like the one you featured from Nordstrom Rack last year. Beach Lunch Lounge is the brand. Quickly became my favorite in scorching summer DC. Also have a guaze dress from Costco. The fabric washes well. Way into the trend.
