Tuesday Outfit: Fresh for Work in Ivory

Oct 25, 2022

There are very few influencers whose style I envy. Okay, I’m lying.  There is just one: Anh at 9-to-5 Chic.  That’s it.  She’s the only one. And while I have recreated ivory outfit from her blog before, I needed to do it again, because it’s been on my mind.  Which happens with a lot of the outfits she shows on her site.

I told you. I wish she could style my whole closet.  This outfit, with all of its easy Olivia Pope vibes, is pure envy.  Here’s how to have it for yourself with current pieces.

The Coat // This grey Double Blanket coat looks stylish and expensive, but it costs a reasonable $180.  It’s a great piece to wear with work separates or to throw on over leggings for a coffee run.  The coat runs XS to XL, and comes in petite and tall lengths.

Another coat worth looking at is this belted grey coat from Nordstrom.  It gives you a sleek piece of outerwear for under-$100.  Or have a look at this Old Navy houndstooth coat that runs in sizes XS to 4X.

The Sweater // The weave pattern — a mix of diamonds and cable knit — on this Alex Mill turtleneck sweater is so unique.  It’s the perfect piece for the casual, business casual, or professional wardrobe.  Just mix up your separates to fit your needs.

The key to choosing the right sweater is to look for something that blends coziness and style with a cool weave pattern and sleek look.  I also like this Nordstrom cable knit sweater for just-under $100 and this Cable Stitch sweater for around $50.  If you need a plus size option, Boden has a great one.

The Pants // Ivory pants are a winter must-have.  They have all the versatility of black, but they’re so much more sophisticated.  These tab-closure, wide leg pants from Banana Republic are the best ones I’ve seen for sale in years.  I bought them instantly.

If you want a more voluminous pair that put the wide in wide leg, Nasty Gal has them.  Or if you prefer a straight leg style, J.Crew has what you need.  Plus-size?  Try these pull-on flare leg pants from Nordstrom.

Accessories // A Fendi bag is a little spendy for my bank account, so I pulled up this Lee Radziwill bag from Tory Burch.  It’s still pricey, but less than most top end designer bags.  For something affordable, try this Nine West bag from Amazon.  It has a great dark color and some chic details.

Pearl earrings are my go to choice with ivory pieces.  This pair from Cult Gaia has a gorgeous wire cage, which is such a distinctive look.  Or pick up these simple studs from Giani Bernini for under-$20.  Prefer drops?  These bubble-chain drop earrings are very cool.

Lastly, if you’re going to wear ivory, you need to wear lip color.  That pop of color is so necessary; it finishes the whole look.  I chose Gucci’s Call It A Day lipstick.  If you want more color, for fall, I like this Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick from Sephora.  It differs from my usual picks, but the very matte finish is very pretty.
