Back to Basics: A Simple Sheath Dress

Jun 28, 2021

I have to dress for work three days this week.  I feel like I have nothing to wear.

It’s 100+ degrees.  I bought no summer work clothes last year.  (It’s fine; nobody did.)  And weight gain is making it tough to fit into the summer work clothes that I already own.

So let’s get back to basics.

This week, we’re going to talk about affordable and mid-price workwear staples.  Because even if you’re not back in the office for a few more months, most of us will be eventually.  And it makes more sense to re-stock a few things now than get to your first week of work and frantically order a bunch of things you’ll probably return.  (Not that I’ve ever done that.)

This T Tahari Judianne Sheath Dress is an awesome staple piece.  The cut is simple and sleek.  It can be worn solo or layered under other pieces.  And it comes in black and navy.

If you know someone just starting out in their career, T Tahari basics are a great place to start.  They’re under-$150, well-made, and perfectly simple.  I also love their v-neck, sleeveless sheath.

T Tahari does not offer inclusive sizing.  However, I found this tulip-sleeve Calvin Klein dress that is really fabulous.  And the MM LaFleur Aditi has an a-line shape and a v-neck style which is available in many colors and sizes.

Dressing for work is a NIGHTMARE post covid. When even Ann Taylor is going beachy casual, we are doomed. Looking forward to more posts like these, thank you!
