Several years ago, I lost on of the most important battles of my life. Kyle’s dog (Sophie) slept in the bed. My dog (Avery) slept in her crate. Moving Sophie off the bed was emotionally distressing for her (she whined for 8-hours straight, four nights in a row), and exhausting for us. So guess what?
Now, both dogs sleep in the bed. And I hate it.
Having two dogs sleeping in your bed means that sheets must be changed frequently. And since Macy’s stopped selling my favorite sheets last year, I needed to find a replacement.
These ikat print sheet sets from Nordstrom Rack are $50 for Queen and Full sizes, and $60 for King. You can also buy extra pillowcases separately.
The sheets are 100% cotton, and 400 thread count. They’re not as soft as my 800 thread count sheets, but the difference is less noticeable than I presumed it would be. Having washed them five times, and dried them using wool dryer balls (plastic for those with allergies), they’re softening up nicely.
They also make a handful of solid colors, if you’re not into prints, but they sell out quickly.

Parachute’s linen sheets changed my life. They’re pricey but we go them on a sale for almost 40% off. Cannot overstate how happy I am with these sheets.
You’ve got to try the Wirecutter’s recommendations! (https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-sheets/) We’ve had the JCPenney ones (Royal Velvet 400 TC Wrinkle Guard) sheets that they’ve recommended for about a year and a half, and they’re still great. I was so dubious about JCPenney, particularly the quality of what I assumed was an in-house brand, but they’re truly the smoothest, nicest sheets we’ve ever had and have really stood up well to my husband’s disastrous toenails. The downside is: no patterns.
FWIW, we also needed a mattress pad after puppy and baby accidents, and their recommendations didn’t really suit, so we got the Target Made by Design Cool Touch one (https://www.target.com/p/cool-touch-mattress-pad-made-by-design-153/-/A-53215210) and have enjoyed it as well. It definitely makes the sheets more slippery, but since they’re deeper than needed + no wrinkle, that hasn’t been an issue, and it seems to sleep cool, which was our primary concern.
I’ve been hooked on the Target Performance sheet sets for years. I got them as a part of our wedding registry as an afterthought. 5 years later, it’s the only brand I’ll buy. I’m a big fan of the texture, the smoothness and price. One qualification though: I get hot when I sleep, so I just use a top sheet and a quilt (no comforter) even in the winter. I find the combination keeps me at the perfect temp, no matter the season.
yesssss to the Target Performance sheets!
my top two fave are the Brooklinen Luxe Sateen sheets and the Target Performance ones. loveloveLOVE them.
I bought a pair of Kirkland sheets from a Corporette suggestion, and I like them. I also have found great high-end sheets for a reasonable price at Tuesday Morning.
I needed this! I’m also looking for a duvet or comforter that can withstand the beating our large dog brings to it!
My dog used to sleep on my bed. Since moving in with my fiancee, who loves/spoils the dog but couldn’t get used to her on our bed, we set up a nice wide bed bench along with a comfy dog bed on top (it helps she’s 14 lbs). The set up looks a little funny, but it works for us!
How often is “frequently”?
I change mine at least once a week. I would prefer to change them more, but I just get too busy.
