What I’m Drinking.  Flavored, sparkling water is now an obsession.  This article tells the history of the oh, so popular La Croix.  Spindrift is my drink of choice.

  1. I did BabyFeet and it was WEIRD but it worked. It’s gross, gross, gross for about a week and then it’s glorious.

    • Belle says:

So Baby Feet users, did you find you got more blisters after from walking? That’s my only concern, that I’ll pull off all this old skin, and then go walking in Europe and wind up a blistered mess.

      • Camille says:

I love Baby Feet! I use it probably every three months or so. I didn’t get more blisters, but your feet are definitely a little more tender/sensitive going the first time around

      • Mary says:

No blisters or soreness from my first time (and I walk a lot) but be warned that my peeling lasted for nearly 3 weeks! I wasn’t able to wear flats/heels without tights thanks to the flakies but fortunately it was during winter. Though my feet are insanely soft now–even my bf noticed.

  2. Sarah Shah says:

I said to myself, “I will not buy that bag.” Over and over as I clicked on the link…I bought the bag ?. Ha!

  3. Jenn S. says:

I’m on the sparkling, flavored (but not sweetened) water train too. I tried but didn’t grow to love Spindrift. Lime LaCroix is my go-to, but most brands’ lime waters are delicious. In a pinch, a bottle of selzer and True Lime packets can be used to create a similar effect.

  4. Nancy M says:

I agree with Petite Curves Ahead, it’s super weird. And it peels for way longer than a week. I couldn’t wear open shoes for 2 weeks. It’s fun, but yeah, weird.

  5. Anna says:

The sweetened, but calorie free flavored sparkling waters are my weekend treat. I drink them out of a wine glass while I watch a Hallmark movie or the Sunday PBS shows.

  6. Kk says:

I bought that pencil skirt, with high hopes of replacing THE halogen skirt from a few years ago. It’s not lined, and it has a strong narrow shape- very wide at the hips and very narrow at the knees, Not a win, for me!

  7. abidina says:

Ha, I love the BabyFoot peel. It’s truly disgusting & also SO satisfying to see it working. My boyfriend did make me wear socks to bed until the peeling ended, but I can’t blame him.

  8. Amy says:

BabyFoot totally satisfied all my picking sunburned skin off urges for life. Definitely soak your feet first (30-40 minutes) and leave it on longer than it says (45-60 minutes at least). Soaking your feet again nightly for the first week also helps speed up the process.

  9. Maddy says:

If you want to maximize your BabyFoot results, make sure you soak your feet in warm water before the peel and for some time every single day after. I know some people who didn’t get any results until they added the daily foot soak.

  10. Emily says:

I just did Baby Feet! I did soak my feet beforehand and left the peel on for about 2 hours, as per tips I read online.

It is revolting in the best possible way. I’m wearing nude hose today to keep from molting in my shoes and am SO EXCITED with the nice, fresh skin underneath.

  11. s says:

We need to talk about Nordstrom’s work clothes lately, particularly their blouses. Everything is off the shoulder, or else some weird cutout (the linked on isn’t bad though). Most are oversized and meant to be worn over skinny pants, which is fine but not every day. The suits by the in house brands are cheap looking, but every decent brand is super expensive. Theory isn’t even making interesting suits anymore, and Elie Tahari is always only plain black. The “outfits” they include on the website or mail thing are weirdly sloppy or else bizarrely non-creative– like a royal blue blazer over a black tank and plain black pants. Ooh, how did you ever come up with that combo?

I need work clothes, I need to be somewhat dressed up, I don’t want an oversized printed polyester blouse with a weird neck collar thing, and I don’t want to wear a cheap shapeless black or navy suit every day. Also, I don’t want to buy Armani, etc. I’ve strayed to MM La Fleur, and even back to Banana Republic lately (although that’s like 1 keeper for every 5 ordered, with many of the same sloppiness issues).

    • Amy says:

Have you tried the red fleece line by Brooks Brothers? I’ve been pretty impressed by the design and the quality. I’d suggest trying on in store if possible (both because of the in house tailoring and because the website seems hell bent on styling them so oddly).

      • Cat says:

Brooks Brothers was a good source pre Zac Posen, but now…. Lafayette 148 online has some good suiting.

      • s says:

Hmm. Looks really spring preppy. Not seeing a lot of work clothes there. Looks a bit like Talbots which I know a lot of people swear by though. Just not my style.

  12. Sarah says:

I am dying to try Baby Foot. Cannot wait to see your results.

  13. June bride says:

Will never forget getting the call from Vinny Malozzi letting me know I was “in” 🙂

    • Belle says:

Nice. I vacillate on whether it’s really cool or a little silly (mostly because a former schoolmate brought it up in every other conversation for like three years that she was the 4th generation to be in the NYT). I think what it comes down to is, it is kind of cool to be included and a really fun thing, as long as you recognize that being included or excluded isn’t important.

      • June Bride says:

That’s exactly right. I’ve known trust fund couples with impressive careers in their own right that didn’t get in, and people of more humble backgrounds and less fancy degrees that have.

But if you grow up in NY, reading the styles section cover-to-cover since age 12, it’s still surreal.

  14. Jessica says:

Thank you SO much for the Polar News post. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. My dad is very conservative and I’m very progressive, and recently we’ve been doing a news swap where I read a few National Review stories and he reads a few Atlantic stories each week, then we discuss on Sundays to try to gain a better understanding of where the other person is coming from. But this is way better since we can read about the same topics and compare media approaches. Thanks for always posting the most useful stuff.

  15. Meghan says:

I AM SO NERVOUS BUT SO EXCITED. (And grateful we will be able to share the experience together haha!)

    • s says:

just wanted to say that that that’s amazing that you are able to have meaningful political conversations with your dad, even though you do not share many political opinions, it sounds like. i have the opposite problem, and it’s difficult to engage my dad in any conversations.

  16. Kellie Denton says:

Baby Foot has changed my life! I have super sensitive skin and literally felt NO pain or tingly at all. Good luck!
